AP II unable to acquire land for third runway

PT ANGKASA PURA II (AP II) - State-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura (AP) II has yet to acquire land for Soekarno-Hatta International Airport’s third runway in Banten on account of land price issues.

The operator plans to acquire land from residents in Rawa Rengas and Rawa Burung villages in Tangerang regency.

"There is no certainty about the [land] price," said Rawa Rengas village secretary Muklis Muslim on Wednesday, as quoted by kompas.com.

He added that officials from the Tangerang National Land Agency (BPN) had visited the village to negotiate land price but residents said the price was much lower than that offered to their neighboring area.

Therefore, residents asked for a new assessment to determine the price.

Separately, AP II spokesperson Yado Yarismano said the operator needed to recalculate the value.

"It is planned that in the fourth week of September, we'll discuss it again," Yado said.

AP II said earlier that the development of the third runaway was urgent because of high aircraft activity.
