Wijaya Karya (WIKA) continues the hunt for new contracts from abroad

WIJAYA KARYA / WIKA - JAKARTA. Wijaya Karya (WIKA) continues the hunt for new contracts in the second semester of 2019. In addition to participating in domestic tenders, the state-owned company is targeting new deals from abroad.

WIKA is eyeing a new contract from Ivory Coast, a country in West Africa. They are also waiting for news of contracts from the United Arab Emirates and the Philippines.

Until the closing of the first semester, Wijaya Karya signed a residential development contract in Algeria worth IDR 500 billion. "We also work on Indonesian outlets at the Dubai Expo valued at almost Rp. 90 billion," said Corporate Secretary of Wijaya Karya, Mahendra Wijaya.

Although diligently hunting overseas contracts, project contracts in the country are still dominant. Wijaya Karya aims at government-owned projects, state-owned companies, and private projects.

Wijaya Karya noted that projects from state-owned companies reached 55.19% of the total new contracts valued at IDR 13.96 trillion in semester I. The rest consisted of 31.39% private contracts, 10.82% contracts from abroad, and 2.6% contract from the government.

The total acquisition of Wijaya Karya's new contract during the first semester has not yet reached half of the full target in 2019, IDR 61.74 trillion. The achievement of the new WIKA contract is equivalent to 22.61%.

Wijaya Karya's management believes that the target for that year will be fulfilled. "We are confident because many BUMN and government projects are starting to auction after the announcement of the election results," Mahendra said.
